Welcome to the Rotary Club of Norwood

Our club has celebrated 63 years of 'doing good' in Norwood and the broader community, including many international projects.

New members interested in serving their community, building their networks and having fun through Rotary are always welcome.

  • We have Six areas of focus
    • Peace and conflict resolution
    • Maternal and child health
    • Water and sanitation
    • Disease prevention and treatment
    • Basic education and literacy
    • Economic and community development
    • Our local projects this year include marshalling the Norwood Christmas pageant, Employee Excellence Awards,
    • International projects this year include clinics and training for doctors in Myanmar addressing club foot in children, Nepal earthquake restoration and building  a medical centre in Peru.
    • Youth projects in 2015-16 include the selection and sponsorship of Samuel Drown of Pembroke to attend the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra – one of only 19 from South Australia, mentoring business student teams competing for the University of Adelaide enterprise challenge and sponsoring young adults to attend a week long leadership training seminar.

Rotary International is the largest and oldest service organisation in the world.   It currently has clubs in over 200 countries and over 1.2M members.  Norwood is one of around 50 clubs in the Adelaide metropolitan area.    Members are welcome to attend meetings of clubs anywhere in the world.

Rotary's major international project is the eradication of polio.  It has been working on this project since 1985 and has been joined by international partners such as the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as national governments throughout the world to eradicate this disease.   This year there are only 3 countries left with endemic polio and Rotary is very close to eradicating the disease.   Nigeria has not had a case of polio for 12 months and the other two countries Pakistan and Afghanistan have had less than 40 cases between them so far this year.
